In order to backbend safely and effectively we need to create extension in the spine, openness through the chest, shoulders, and fronts of the hips, and a co-activated core. When we apply and keep applying these principles, we can open the front of our body sustainably, without pain. This information is critical to those of us who love and those of us who love a little less backbends.
